I never saw this working

Describe the bug

Logs mostly end up in timeout unfortunately. After 7 attempts, tonight it managed to complete 1 job and create the PR.

In the logs I see a lot of DEBUG: POST https://api.github.com/graphql = (code=ETIMEDOUT, statusCode=-1 retryCount=0, duration=270915) That step succeeds eventually, but the jobs just fail for a global timeout it seems. Is it possible to lower that POST timeout or increase the global one?

WARN: Job timeout

0

The repo timeout is not configurable. Request timeout can be controlled using hostRules:

0

Thanks, I'll try that. Oddly the timeout is 60 seconds, yet it lasts 240+ seconds, despite having 0 retries.

0

Yes, we are somewhat hostage to our lower level libraries on things like this and I'm not always sure why numbers are as they are. I actually wonder if lower timeout and more retries would have more success than a longer timeout.

0

@rarkins nothing changed. Here is the log (as you can see I changed the timeout in the config, yet it still uses 270seconds for each request).

it seems that timeouts occur when checking dependencies of the github actions, in particular these 3: aws-actions/amazon-ecs-deploy-task-definition aws-actions/amazon-ecr-login actions/upload-artifact

That seems pretty strange as these repos don't have a huge number of tags or releases.

It looks like we catch the initial failure and reduce page size from 100 to 50 and retry, but ultimately the job times out.

I've raised a question to our http library here: https://github.com/sindresorhus/got/issues/2188

Ok, thanks. I'll monitor the situation. For the time being I solved by adding

  "ignoreDeps": [
    "aws-actions/amazon-ecs-deploy-task-definition",
    "aws-actions/amazon-ecr-login",
    "actions/upload-artifact",
  ],
